Dear Parents and Supporters,

The Community Living Support Group (CLSG) was formed in 1993 to help our consumers in many ways. This non-profit volunteer organization is composed of many Parents and other interested Parties which have as a common goal to improve the quality of life of people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.

Your Participation in this worthy endeavor is requested. This organization supports J-E-N MHMR Services and other providers with activities and financial support for the many needs not covered by other means. Our group is very family oriented and it provides a forum

for sharing our many concerns with others who have similar problems.

What are

CLSG’s goals:

To promote the general welfare of people with

mental retardation and other developmental disabilities wherever they may be, but especially those individuals residing in Johnson, Ellis and Navarro Counties.

To develop teaching/training programs and public awareness programs related to mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.

To advise and aid families in the solution of problems related to mental retardation and developmental disabilities, and to facilitate their efforts and activities.

To develop a better understanding by the general public of the issues of mental retardation and developmental disabilities.

To work cooperatively and supportively with all public and private agencies, professional groups, and religious entities in the promotion of programs for people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities, especially in programs located in Johnson, Ellis and Navarro Counties.

To solicit funds for the accomplishment of the above purposes from governmental, religious, public, and private groups and agencies.

What does

CLSG do:

Bi-monthly meetings

- Yearly Dues $6.00/persons or family.

Guest speakers on subjects we need to

know more about, such as,

- Guardianship

- Legislative Activities

- Medical consultations

Special Olympics support

- raise funds to help send athletes to meets

- support Valentine, Halloween, and

Christmas activities.

Provides an Annual Picnic with prizes for all consumers.

Presents the Jim Mosher Award yearly to the person / organization which has performed outstanding work for the consumers.

Monitors the Texas Legislature for changes in the law as it pertains to MHMR activities.
