COI (sister agency of CLC) serves over
Ninety (90) individuals ranging in
age from 20 to 67. Intellectual abilities range from mild to severe impairments and
some individuals have severe physical limitations as well. COI is one of only two agencies
in our country offering services to individuals with these levels and
type of disabilities. Currently it is the only one providing computer
related training to the people receiving services.
While Johnson Co., TX borders Tarrant Co., the location of the metropolitan city
of Ft. Worth; it lacks many of the services and opportunities available in that
city. Our community lacks accessible, affordable public transportation, has
limited services for individuals with disabilities, and limited employment
opportunities. As a result COI's services have become multi-faceted.
encompassing traditional sheltered work, day habilitation services, supported
employment, and transportation services.
Many individuals served by COI live in CLC's group homes. Or receive services
from other provider agencies in Johnson County with whom COI contracts with three.
Some
individuals served by COI live with minimal supports in their own home or live
at home with their families. Another small group lives with an adult foster
caregiver.
